Loan Payment Table: Monthly Cost per $1,000 Borrowed

The monthly payment on $1,000 borrowed, across the rates and terms typical of auto and personal loans. Multiply by your loan size in thousands to get your payment.

How to use this table

Read down to your interest rate and across to your term in months. That is the monthly payment per $1,000 borrowed — multiply by your loan amount ÷ 1,000:

  • A $20,000 car loan → multiply by 20.
  • A $7,500 personal loan → multiply by 7.5.

Worked example

A $20,000 car loan at 6% over 60 months: the table shows $19.33 per $1,000, so the payment is × 20 ≈ $386.66 a month.

Methodology

Each value is the monthly payment on a $1,000 loan at the given annual rate over the given number of months, from the standard amortization formula (the same unit-tested function behind this site's calculators). For a full payoff schedule and your exact numbers, use the loan calculator. This is general information, not a loan offer.
